Mother's Day Card| feat. Simon Says Stamp

Image
Good morning and happy Monday! Thank you so much for joining me on yet another Card Making video. I had a lot of fun creating this card, because I was able to use two new products from Simon Says Stamp. The center cut background stamp and "mom" die set, were part of their exclusive mothers day card kit 2018. Some items included in the kit are sold separately (the die set) and some releases are meant to be used with an overall theme, like the center cut stamp. They have a variety of stamps similar to this one. It makes it fun and easy to create intricate backgrounds, or use just one element to create a unique detail. I wanted to use my watercolor palette for my background, so I decided to heat emboss my main image, to add an extra layer and pop of color. A raised edge works great for watercoloring, to keep each color seperate from the other, but I just wanted an extra touch to background, to help my watercolor stand out more. Using some scraps of paper I had in my stash, I...

By creating simple layers, I add a touch of interest, without taking away from the image. I really wanted her to stand out, even more than she already does. Color Throwdown Challenge #490

Image
Hello everyone, Today I'm sharing this week's Color Throwdown Challenge, by creating this card using various stamps from Hampton Art and Joann's, and Distress Inks. This week's Color combo was pink, lavender, green and gray. I wanted to create a floral background, with a layered touch. The distress inks help in creating this effect, without mudding the color too much. I decided to take this opportunity to try a technique by one of my favorite card makers, Amy Rysavy. She layers sentiments she die cut, adhering one on top of the other, until she gets the dimension she wants. By cutting the word love on my background ,I have a space for my dimension element, but also can use that cut apart to continue the flow of the background. I love how this card turned out, and I believe this week's colors really helped get look I wanted. Quick and Easy Box Card

Image
Hello everyone! I hope you're all having an amazing Wednesday. Today I wanted to share a quick and easy way to create a box card. Uaing a mini pizza box template and design for my idea, this one is so easy to recreate, you'll want to make a few before the day is done. With just two sheets of 6x6 paper, you can create one 4x4 box, perfect for adding a gift card, pop up elements or any other goodies you want to gift. Making sure one of the sheets is slightly smaller in size, you will score each corner at 1 inch, and create notches to assemble a cute little box. Make sure to use a strong adhesive for this one, score tape should do the trick! For the full step by step tutorial, make sure to visit my YouTube Channel . Happy crafting, Eny Dunn

Simple Double Fold Card

Image
Hello everyone, Welcome to another Card Making video and post. Today I wanted to share a simple double fold card, perfect for adding a interactive element to your card, without all the hassle, extra trimming or die cutting. Today I used a Jane Dunn Hampton Art clear stamp. These layered flowers add a wonderful touch to any card. By stamping my images with distress oxides, I achieve a chalk or matte look, that plays well with the simplicity of the overall look. I added a bit of interest by embellishing my cover with some washi tape and enamel accents. When you open the second fold, you see a simple sentiment and flower details, keeping the main focus on the cover and giving enough room to write a heartfelt note. Color Throwdown Challenge #489

Image
Hello everyone and welcome to another Card Making post! Today I wanted to share another color Throwdown , this time with a video! For this week's challenge the colors were Red, Green and White. With those colors we think Christmas, but truly this color combo can be used all year round. I wanted to keep the card simple, with the focus completely on the colors. I used two sheets of my Canson Mixed Media Paper, and blended some Distress Oxide Candied Apple and Distress Ink Mowed Lawn, one color on each sheet. To add some texture, I activated the distress effect, by splattering some water over the inks, and then gently dabbing them with a power towel to pick up any excess water. Once they were dry, I was able to cut some Stitched Heart Dies in various sizes to use for my card cover. With a simple Love sentiment on black cardstock, this card is simple, yet perfect for any occassion. For the full tutorial and step by step details, please visit my YouTube Channel. The Impossible Card: Simplified

Image
Hello everyone and Happy Monday! Today I wanted to share a card that has been circulating around YouTube and Instagram for a little while now, The Impossible Card. My simplified version cuts the cutting time in half by masking both sides of the base cardstock. One side before my pencil marks and scoring and one side after the fact. The base for this card is 5x7. I used 80lb smooth white cardstock, because it's easier to bend and fold without tearing the paper. Once your paper is cut to 5x7, you want to mask with your favorite solid or patterned paper, and then mark with a pencil the areas you will be cutting to create your folds. Once the card base is cut, all sides are folded and masked, you can then add all your embellishments and details. This is a fun card to make for all special occasions and I was very excited to share it with you. For the full tutorial and product name, please visit my YouTube Channel . Happy crafting, Eny Dunn

MFT Color Challenge 91

Image
Hello everyone! Today I've been inspired to create a card with a color combo I rarely use; shades of yellow and pink! This week's My Favorite Things challenge features bright and fun colors, perfect for spring and mothers day. I decided to use the duckling image included in the Simon Says Stamp Flowers and Showers stamp set. I had to pair it with a cloud background, created with some old stamps i had in my stash (truth be told, don't remember where their from) and Distress Inks and Oxides. At the beginning of this challenge I felt like I woulndt be able to follow through completely, but once I had the idea, everything else flowed. I encourage you to visit the My Favorite Things Instagram account, where you will find a direct link to their blog with all the information for this challenge and how to enter. You "Rule" Teacher Appreciation Card

Image
Hello everyone! Today I bring you another card! This one is perfect for the teachers in our lives. I wanted something bright, fun and easy, and Echo Park always delivers with amazing stamp sets for any occasion. Inspired by the patterned papers in the new Shimelle collection, Box of Crayons, I decided to use some primary colors to stamp my images. Thankfully, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks come in a wide range of colors. I got out Squeezed Lemonade, Candy Apple and Mermaid Lagoon , and stamped a simple background on some Bristol Smooth Cardstock. Pun sentiments are especially fun in these types of cards, and "U Rule" was no exception. Truly brought everything together and gave this card a comical, whimsical detail. Color Throwdown Challenge

Image
Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing my first entry in to the Color Throwdown Challenge. This challenge is hosted every Wednesday, with a new color combo hosted by one of the DT members. For this card, I decided to use the Flowers and Showers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and one of the layering flower stamp sets from Recollections Backyard Table collection.  The colors to be used were Yellow, Green, Aqua and White. To lay my colors I used some of my Distress Inks and Distress Oxides, to add a matte look to my cover. I also used my Copic Ciao Set A to color my boot image. All my elements were fussy cut and adhered with either Aileens Tacky Glue or dimensional foam tape, to add some interest. I love the layered, yet delicate look to this card. The colors worked beautifully with the spring theme i was going for, and made for an easy and inspiring make. Hopefully, this will be the first of many entries in to the Color Throwdown Challenge. If you would like to participate, please...

Mini Pocket Clipboards

Image
Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share another happy mail project. This is one, of just a few, I have left to share, before taking a break from happy mail style crafts, and focusing on card makimf, mixed media and scrapbook layouts. This is a quick and fun project, inspired by my dear friend Jennifer, who altered some regular sized clipboards, perfect to send out some goodies or gift to teachers and students. I decided to do a small version of these pocket clipboards, because I had 4x6 sheets of chipboard in my stash. To create the effect of a pre-made clipboard, I adhered some bulldog clips to the tip middle portion of my chipboard. With patterned paper, stickers and die cuts, I was able to add some dimension, color and a personalized look to each of the pocket clipboards. For the step by step tutorial, please visit my YouTube Channel. Happy crafting, Eny Dunn
